This simple paddle is made of layers of thick bridle leather reinforced at the base with a wide steel rod. This paddle has some flex to it, like the delightfully painful lovechild of a slapper and paddle. Though simple, it does have two sides. One side is the smooth, stiff bridle leather used for the body of the paddle, while the other side has an extra layer of soft garment leather. (Those who enjoy matching all their gear will be pleased to know that the garment leather is the same as the leather used in Aslan's signature cuffs and harnesses, so the colors can be perfectly matched with existing Aslan gear) The garment leather side not only offers a softer sensation, but dulls the stingy harshness of the bridle leather somewhat to deliver a thuddier, less intense blow. The bridle leather side gives a stingier, more intense blow in contrast. The combination of dual-sided sensations and springiness lets this paddle deliver a range of sensations from light taps to full-force wollops with ease. This is a great beginner paddle that sits right in the middle of thud, sting, and intensity, but its low profile at only 3/8" (1cm) thick makes it a great travel companion for the seasoned impact top as well since it doesn't take up much space.
We recommend treating it like any other Aslan leather product, giving it a wipe down with leather cleaner and conditioner after use to keep the hides supple and flexible without cracking (we recommend the BeGloss Leather Cleaner and Conditioner).
